Where Should Internal Temperature Sensors be Placed?
- Try to avoid placing the temperature sensing device in the combination with other devices, particular any that have even a low heat output.
- Do not install the temperature sensor near appliances that consume a significant amount of power or out put heat such as ovens, fridges, dishwashers.
- Avoid radiators and cooling systems of any kind.
- The temperature sensor should not be exposed to direct sun.
- The installation of sensors on the inside of an outside wall might have a negative impact on the temperature measurement.
- Make sure there is no pipe work in the wall behind the sensor.
- Ideally temperature sensors should be installed away from windows, ventilation units or any excess air movement.
- Temp sensing, particularly in rooms with convective heating such as radiators is best measured at or near head height, so around 1500 to 2000 ffl (finished floor level).
- If climate control in a bathroom is required the Keypad will need to be in the room not on the wall outside. If this is not feasible it may be possible to link a separate temperature probe to the keypad or other bus device.
