Accessible, affordable and with less burden on your business. Meet the KNX hybrid basic training.
This collaborative approach to the KNX Basic Training from CEDIA and Ivory Egg offers an easier way for you to get certified, with less time out of your business.
The course is designed to increase accessibility by halving the amount of time required off site. There is no compromise on quality though, as the training is still approved by the KNX Association.
The KNX Basic Certification is ideal for anyone seeking to learn more about the KNX standard and its various applications. This is the most solid foundation you can get for your business when it comes to KNX.
How does it work?
Part 1: Completed remotely
It’s the 6 self-paced modules, completed online via the dedicated CEDIA portal, that are key.
You can complete what would normally be two classroom days in your own time, at your own pace, in a location to suit you. Less time off site means less burden is placed on you being out of your business & less cost is incurred.
Part 2: Completed on-site
This is followed up with a 2-day practical session at a training centre in your state of choice, where you’ll also have the opportunity to speak to our experts about any upcoming projects and collect resources to continue your KNX Journey.
Whats next?
Contact Ivory Egg today to book your place on this certified course, gain access to the CEDIA portal and start your KNX Basic Training. CEDIA members can also book onto this course at a discounted rate.
Please note that the online modules must be completed prior to attending the in-person training. In-person training is available at various locations to suit registrants. Upon successful completion of both theory and practical certification exams, you will be registered as a KNX Certified Partner.
You can also contact Ivory Egg today for a full breakdown of the 6 self-paced modules.

What is covered in the course?
The course explores all aspects of the principles of the KNX protocol and includes both theoretical learning, and hands-on programming exercises to build your understanding and confidence with the KNX system configuration tool, ETS.
The self-paced modules will cover the history of KNX, how to design the KNX Topology to ensure reliable systems, installation of the system and how KNX bus devices operate. You’ll arrive fully prepared for the 2-day practical and assessment.
While on site you’ll cover how to use ETS to program KNX using lighting and shading examples, how to run diagnostics with ETS, and finish with the Theory and Practical Certification exams.
Why invest your time in KNX?
Automation doesn't have to be difficult. It simply requires a system that avoids the problems of isolated devices. By ensuring that all components communicate in one common language, the kind of device you want to use doesn't matter anymore.
Automating a building has far-reaching benefits for integrators and occupants. With KNX, functions like lighting and AV control, security, energy management, and HVAC can work as a uniform system, which is the essence of interworking and interoperability.
The KNX Standard provides a unique platform for integrators to deliver a modular and scalable solution that works in all types of buildings, saves energy, and improves health and well-being.
It enables the integration and programming of a range of products from a range of manufacturers using a single software tool. You also have the reassurance that KNX products are all thoroughly tested for compliance, ensuring they operate seamlessly together on a single, simple network.
Who supports KNX?
There are over 500 manufacturers, 70,529 partners, 126 scientific partners as well as user clubs, national groups and test labs over some 160 countries. This is why KNX is becoming the automation technology of choice.
Learning Outcomes Summary
Participants will gain a basic understanding and skills to work on KNX based equipment, and become a basic level accredited KNX building automation technician.
